About the Role

As the Dealer Sales and Development Manager, you will be the face of Ford sales within your Region. You will engage with Dealers as fundamental partners in all areas of their business, with specific focus in new vehicle sales. You will counsel and assist Dealers in achieving their sales, profit and customer satisfaction objectives.

While you'll operate with significant autonomy, you'll also be a part of the wider Southern Region team dedicated to collective success. This role is about delivering results through the cultivation of robust, trust-based relationships.

Reporting directly to the Regional Manager Southern Region, this position operates under a hybrid work arrangement, requiring four days on-site.

  • Forging Partnerships: Cultivate deep, trust-based relationships with Dealer Principals, General Managers, and their teams, becoming their trusted advisor and advocate within Ford.

  • Driving Sales Excellence: Partner with Dealers, with a primary focus on elevating new vehicle sales performance. Provide expert counsel and hands-on support to help them consistently exceed sales volume and customer satisfaction targets.

  • Unlocking Dealership Potential: Act as a business consultant, supporting Dealers across critical facets of their operations including dynamic marketing strategies, robust business planning, retailing practices, efficient supply chain management, and overall financial health. This includes providing foundational guidance on optimizing profitability through finance, insurance, accessories, and exploring fleet market opportunities.

  • Monitoring for Success: Proactively track Dealer performance using key metrics (sales, stock levels, customer satisfaction scores, market share). Use this data not just to monitor, but to proactively identify opportunities and collaboratively develop action plans to achieve business goals, holding partners accountable in a supportive manner.

  • Leading Transformational Projects: Identify specific high-potential or underperforming dealerships and spearhead targeted development projects designed to address priority areas and drive significant improvement and growth.

  • Championing Innovation: Expertly present the value of Ford's latest Marketing and Sales programs to Dealers. Drive engagement and implementation to ensure maximum mutual benefit and competitive advantage.

  • Dealer Visitation: This role requires travel, spending approximately 50% of your time each month on the road. You'll be visiting, collaborating with, and supporting both Metro and Provincial Dealers face-to-face, directly contributing to company objectives and targets in the field.

About you

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business, marketing, or a related field.

  • 5+ years' experience within a sales role within the automotive industry or a related field is highly valued, giving you insight into the challenges and opportunities our Dealers face.

  • A blend of collaborative spirit and independent drive – you know how to contribute significantly to a team's success while possessing the initiative to achieve outstanding individual results.

  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills – you can quickly assess complex Dealer situations, diagnose challenges, develop insightful and actionable recommendations, and present them persuasively. Crucially, you possess the implementation skills to help Dealers execute these plans effectively, understanding their unique motivations and business needs.

  • Outstanding verbal/written communication and presentation skills – you can articulate complex ideas clearly, build rapport, and influence positive outcomes.

  •  Courage and determination – you're not afraid to tackle difficult conversations or challenging situations head-on, persevering to find solutions and drive progress.

  • A Self-motivated and results-driven approach – you take ownership, set high standards for yourself, and are focused on achieving and exceeding business objectives.
