In this position...
We’re seeking a highly skilled technical professional to provide key expertise to support and maintain paint automation equipment. You will have oversight of maintenance operations within the Enamel Booth. You will have direct supervision over skilled trades and production team members assigned to support production and the automation equipment. You will utilize various tools to monitor and improve the automation equipment to improve quality and performance.
What you'll do...
- Use FIS Plant monitoring software to review faults and cycle times of automation
- Use QLS Plant Quality software to review quality concerns and assist with cut-offs and resolutions
- Troubleshoot PLC issues, Robot Application issues, and other critical inputs to the Painting Process
- Review and interpret electrical prints
- Update program backups for automation
- Prioritized daily maintenance activities (predictive, preventive, and crisis maintenance) to reduce and improve automation uptime
- Program new installations for Paint Automation and conveyor systems
- Reprogram automation for engineering changes, throughput, and quality improvements
- Lead skilled trades/maintenance personnel to evaluate controls requirements for maintaining and improving production yields, throughput, and up time
- Use Maximo for Maintenance (MFM) to document all maintenance activities (crisis and planned) as well as interface and provide input to maintenance planning activities
- Understand/monitor and adjust spray booth conditions to ensure Quality Targets are achieved
- Coordinate and plan maintenance actions (Preventive, Planned, and Crisis Maintenance)
- Ensure equipment start-up readiness for production
- Ensure all safety standards are met during maintenance activities
- Conduct root cause analysis of downtime issues to prevent recurrence (4D process)
- Oversee optimization of current production processes
- Develop preventative/predictive maintenance practices to ensure 100% equipment uptime
- Provide input on new equipment design and purchase
- Support new model/equipment launch as required
- Assist in quality-related actions that imply machine reliability improvements
- Support Work Group and Department meetings regarding equipment improvement and JPH actions
- Provide technical assistance to personnel and areas where necessary.
- Work with FIS, AVS, and any other manufacturing-type systems
- Coordinate skilled personnel during breakdowns to fix the issue with the minimal disturbance on production. Ensure resources are planned during the line breaks
- Respond, troubleshoot, and implement corrective actions for production quality concerns
- Work any shift, as well as rotating shifts and weekends
You'll have...
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Controls, Robotics, or Automation Engineering or adequate years of field experience, will also suffice
- 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of technical work experience and troubleshooting in a manufacturing or OEM tooling environment
- Experience managing and directing a team of skilled trades and hourly production workers.
Even better, you may have...
- Paint Application experience
- Durr, FANUC, and/or Kuka Robot Programming/Application experience
- Experience in supervising and working side by side with Union Employees, both Production and Skilled Trades
- Solid understanding of PLC programming
- Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production environment
